How to Jailbreak iOS 5.0 on iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad

As iOS 5 is out, users who rely on jailbreak are looking to customize their upgraded iOS devices. Well, iPhone dev-team member, MuscleNerd, has confirmed that the current version of Redsn0w can jailbreak(Tethered) iOS 5 on all devices except the iPad 2.

Please note that this a tethered jailbreak meaning that you will have to connect your device with computer and tether boot from Redsn0w every time you turn off or reboot your device. This type of jailbreak is not recommended as it is really annoying to tether your device again and again with computer. But you can continue if you wish, anyway.

Things you need:
Latest version of iTunes [Download]
Update your device to iOS 5 using iTunes or direct links found here
Redsn0w 0.9.9b5 [Download] for Mac only. Redsn0w 0.9.9b5 is not yet available for windows but it will be available soon.

The foremost step is to install Redsn0w on your machine and then run it.

Click on ‘Jailbreak’ and on the next screen select ‘Install Cydia’ and then follow the on-screen instructions to put your device in DFU mode. Redsn0w will undergo a series of automated steps and will jailbreak your device on iOS 5.0. Once it is done, you need to tether boot your device using Redsn0w because it is a tethered jailbreak. To do so, run Redsn0w, navigate ‘Extras’ and then to ‘Just Boot’ and then follow the on-screen instructions.

That’s it. Please note that you will have to tether boot using Redsn0w every time you reboot your device. If you are having problems or any type of issue, drop us a comment in the comment section below.
