Guide to block specific websites in Google Chrome

Google Chrome does not contain any option in which you can block specific websites in a single click. but, your windows does. Whether you suspect your children are visiting those websites which they shouldn’t or they don’t study because of using Facebook all day, you can block specific websites.

Go to this location C:WINDOWSsystem32driversetc
In this folder, you will see some files like hosts, lmhosts, protocol, networks, services etc

Open hosts with note pad

At the bottom of the document, add the numbers “127.0.0.1”, followed by at least one space, followed by the URL of the website you want to block. For example, if you want to block facebook.com then you would enter “127.0.0.1 facebook.com”

Save the file and restart your computer.

Done! anyone trying to access Facebook will result in an error message.

Note : Do not put either “http://” or “www” in front of the names of websites you wish to block–doing so will result in the site not being blocked. You are blocking the entire site regardless of protocol.
