Sunderland 1-2 Chelsea – 10th September 2011

Chelsea’ start of the season may not have been as impressive as their two Manchester rivals but the Blues remain unbeaten as they head to the north-east to face Sunderland. Chelsea have picked seven points from their opening three games and they head to the stadium of light with Raul Meireles who joined from Liverpool in the last minute transfer.

The two matches between these two last year produced no fewer than nine goals. Chelsea lost the home match by 3-0 before winning the reversed 4-2 at Sunderland. With five goals conceded, Chelsea manager will be happy now to have some good news at the back with Peter Cech and David Luiz back in the squad.

Goals have been a problem for Sunderland since the start of their season. They have just scored one goal against Liverpool on the opening day. John O’shea is a doubt at the back for Sunderland after picking up an injury in one of the Euro 2012 qualifier matches.

With injuries to Steve Bruce’ side and players returning to Chelsea squad, it’s not hard for the Blues to get all three points from this match.
