SAMSUNG EXYNOS 5 OCTA WITH ARMS big. LITTLE ARCHITECTURE

Just as we saw Nvidia coming up with the Tegra 4, Qualcomm brought in the Snapdragon 800 series to the CES stage in Nevada , we see Samsung coming up with the next processor in the Exynos 5 line up.
This will be called the Exynos 5 Octa. This will be an eight core system on chip which would be purely dedicated to the tablets section and to the high end smart phones.

Yes. It will be Eight cores. The eight divided into two groups of four cores each. Therefore, any device that will possess this one, will have two quad-core processors powering it. What makes this special and unique is that it has implemented the ARMS technology. ARM is today the leader of mobile chip technology and are moving higher and higher with their performance of chip sets.
Their big.LITTLE architecture, has been implemented in this Octa from Samsung Exynos. Now, the big.LITTLE architecture signifies the pairing up of the very low power CPU like the Cortex A7 and the most powerful CPU so far the Cortex A15. It’s the “switching processor” technology implemented by
big.LITTLE.

The focus would be more on the efficiency than performance, as we see that is what would matter the most to this segment of the market . Compared to the previous Exynos 5 this Octa from Samsung
will save upto 70% power as per claim from the Korean company. Both the groups will be working in
tandem, offering very high speed and ofcourse without compromising on the battery consumption.
Another main reason why this will be highly power efficient is that it is being manufactured using 28 nm
process as against the 32 nm process which was used in the Exynos 5 Dual.
