Remembering Abdul Ghaffar Khan

Today is the birthday of the great freedom fighter Abdul Ghaffar Khan.

He was born on 6 February 1890.

He is also known as “Frontier Gandhi” and “Badshah Khan”.

He was strongly opposed to the partition of India. He happened to reside in Pakistan after the partition and became a critic of Pakistan for which he was jailed a few times.

He was awarded Bharat Ratna in 1987 for his immense contributions to the independence movement of India, just 1 year before his death in 1988.

There is certainly no doubt in saying that this great man deserves more recognition.
