Release of iPad mini

With the rumours of the release of the upcoming Apple gear in production, the gadget hungry masses are all keen, waiting for the official unveiling of the iPad mini, a miniature of the Apple’s previously released product iPad, this October.

It has been heard that the release of this iPad mini had been scheduled to take place this September along with the new generation iPhone 5. But Apple did not want the attention for the widely anticipated iPhone 5 go diluted which made Apple postpone the release of the iPad mini during October ensuring that both the devices get a BLOCKBUSTER response.

The 7.85 inch-ed iPad mini is positioning to take on Google’s bestselling Nexus tablet. The device is reported not to be having the famed Retina Display.

The device will use screens from AU Optronics Corp. and LG Display Co.

OSXDaily listed a number of possible features for the new product, including A5X CPU from the current iPad 3, 8GB of storage, iOS6 and a price of around $299- $399 with a 7.85” display and 1024×768 resolution.

The tablet is seen to be very thin and with a newer and a smaller dock connector. Also, a SIM-Card slot and an antenna spot is noticed at the top of the device.

The new iPad mini clearly represents Apple’s effort to dig into the part of the market currently occupied by the Kindle Fire and other smaller tablets.

The late Apple boss Steve Jobs once famously dissed mid-sized slates during an Apple earnings call in October 2010, saying:
“The 10in screen size is the minimum size  required to create great tablet apps. 7in tablets are tweeners: too big to compete with a smartphone, and too small to compete with an iPad.”
““These are among the reasons that the current crop of 7-inch tablets are going to be DOA — dead on arrival,” he said.

With the holiday shopping season approaching, Apple will be able to dominate the tech-market with two new products to sell. The iPad mini and the iPhone 5 are expected to go for sale during the upcoming holiday season.

Let us hope the best for Apple….
