Man utd vs Marseille 15 March – Champions League 2nd Leg

So here it is, Manchester United vs Marseille’s second leg of the round of 16. The first leg was a mere goal-less draw that Marseille were keen to go with. However, for United, it was not a very convincing result because they now have to face Marseille at Old Trafford.

An away goal was surely needed. Antonio Valencia is back in the United squad and is likely to play tomorrow. Despite this, wingers Nani and Ji-Sung Park are due to miss the all important clash.

Lets head towards the facts now. Man United have never lost to a French side in 11 meetings at home. They also possess the best defensive record in the Champions League by conceding just one goal back in December. However, United have scored seven times, each scored by a different player.

Meanwhile, Marseille arrive at Old Trafford having now gone 512 minutes (over five games) without conceding a goal. The last time Marseille reached the last eight was in 1993 when they went on to win the tournament. It’s hard to believe that Marseille have won only one time in England, against Liverpool in 2007 at Anfield.

However, football is a exciting game where anything can happen. I’m sure it’ll be one entertaining clash and the winning team will surely deserve to reach the next round.

Match Details: Man utd vs Marseille, 15 March 2011, Old Trafford at 19:45 GMT +00

Prediction: Man Utd is really playing good football at the moment as they thrashed Arsenal by 2-0 in the FA Cup on 13 March so my prediction is: Full time Manchester United 1-0 Marseille (1-0 Aggregate).
