If your lips get dry, licking them may make them feel better in the short term, but this will not last very long. This repeated exposure to water actually serves to take away moisture from your lips when the saliva evaporates! Think of it like repeatedly washing your hands – that would also dry out your skin fairly quickly. Instead, you should use a lip balm, and if you’re in the sun, get a lip balm with an SPF of 15 or higher. We recommend bacon lip balm!
