The German government refuses to supply German armored personnel carriers, which Ukraine has asked for to ward off the Russian military operation.
In a letter that was received by the Ministry of Defense on Wednesday last week and is available to WELT, the Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Resnikov asks for the transfer of 100 Marder-type armored personnel carriers and other heavy weapons. There was no official response from the federal government.
Instead, Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht (SPD), who was in Washington that day, immediately rejected the request in a phone call with Resnikov, according to government circles in Kiev.
