France freezes assets of the Central Bank of Russia

France has frozen the assets of the Central Bank of Russia for a total amount of 22 billion euros in opposition to Russia’s special operation in Ukraine. On Sunday, March 20, TASS reported with reference to the Ministry of Economy of the country.

“We have frozen the assets of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation in the amount of 22 billion euros. We have also frozen the funds on the accounts of individuals in French institutions in the amount of 150 billion euros,” said French Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire.

In addition, he added, the country’s authorities have decided to freeze real estate located in French territory, which belongs to about 30 Russians.

Its total cost is estimated at about half a billion euros.
