Coming soon – mobile battery that charges completely in 10 minutes

A team of scientists have recently developed a battery which will be able to recharge completely
in ten minutes. The lithium-ion battery would have three times more energy than the existing
ones and would be capable of being used in almost any gadget including electric or hybrid cars.

The research was led by the well known professor of University of Southern California (USC),
Chongwu Zhou. The main focus of the team was to look out for silicon nano-wires which are as
minute as 100 nano-meters across and just a few microns long.

The design has been sent for patent approval and once approved; it would be commercially
available but may take 2-3 years for the same. The cost of the battery is not available as of now.
