Benfica 1-1 Man Utd – 14 September 2011

Last season’s Champions League runners-up start their CL journey against the Portuguese club, Benfica. Manchester United have been in stunning form this season. Having won all league matches, and scoring a total of 21 goals in five matches with 8 of them coming from striker Wayne Rooney, they find themselves at the top of the English League with impressive goal difference. On the other hand Benfica have also been unbeaten this season having won two of their last three games including a draw.

Rio Ferdinand will not be available for Manchester United as he did not travel with the squad to Lisbon. Vidic is still injured and thus will not be available tonight. Phill Jones will be making his Champions League debut alongside with Johny Evans or Chris Samlling.

Benfica will be facing Manchester United with their best squad as they have no fresh injuries except Enzo Pere. Cardozo will be the player to watch for Benfica tonight as he has scored four goals in last three league games.
