Russia used advanced hypersonic ballistic missiles for first time

Russian Ministry of Defence says the state of the art nuclear-capable weapons system Kinzhal was used for destroying an underground munitions depot in western Ukraine.

Kinzhal is Russia’s single most advanced conventional weapon – 13 times as fast as a tomahawk, with 3x the payload.

Military and foreign policy experts believe that Russia’s decision to engage the new system is intended, among other things, to send a major deterrent signal to the U.S. and NATO.
