It’s the first weekend of the Premier League season 2011-2012 where Sunderland are to face Liverpool at Anfield. Steven Gerrard, Liverpool Skipper, who has been suffering from groin injury from past few months, has been ruled out till September. So Liverpool will be starting their season without their key mid-fielder and captain, Gerrard. Also, Glen Johnson will not be playing as he has recently suffered thigh injury during the friendly match against Valencia.
On the other hand, Sunderland will be working hard to take over Liverpool as some of their key players like Fraizer Campbell, Craig Gordon and David Meyler are sidelined due to injuries. John O’Shea, former Manchester United player, who has signed a four-year-contract with Sunderland, has also been ruled out due to hamstring injury.
