Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer said that Vienna, Berlin and Budapest oppose the embargo on Russian gas supplies, as sanctions should primarily be painful for Russia, not for the European Union.
“Austria is not alone in this issue against the gas embargo… On the other hand, Austria is on the side of other EU member states and on the side of sanctions against Russia. But sanctions should hit Russia harder than the European Union,” Hammer said on CNN.
