Turkey will not allow NATO warships into the Black Sea said Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar.
Akar referred to the Montreux Convention and said that the passage would be shut for the warships of countries that do not have access to the Black Sea.
The head of the Turkish Defense Ministry added that the appearance of mines in the sea may be deliberate: the mines could have been fired as part of a plan to put pressure on Turkey to let NATO minesweepers into the Black Sea, which contradicts the Montreux Convention.
Turkey has been urged by Turkish experts until now to avoid joining the war against Russia despite pressures from NATO to help Ukraine more with the ongoing war.
